1988 Jaguar Sovereign XJ40 Auto

Showcased in 1986, the XJ6 was a redesign of the XJ proposed to replace the series III. Features of the XJ40 included dependent rear suspension arrangement and also introduced technological advancements such as an electronic instrument cluster. Initially offered in 2. 9 litre and 3. 6 litre variants (ours being the latter), the Sovereign model came equipped with significantly more features than the base XJ6 with additions such as air conditioning, burl walnut wood trim and anti-lock braking.
The vendor is selling on behalf of his late father who cherished the car, using it daily for a number of years and thus serving it every year - the car comes with a large history file to support this. Given a fresh battery prior to sale, this offers a reliable, well looked after example for sale in a stunning colour.
