The Appeal
The X-Type was Jaguar’s 3-Series rival, cleverly shrinking down the XJ looks and luxury into a more compact executive saloon. Comfortable and cossetting in a way that its German and Japanese rivals failed to match, good versions of these cars are increasingly sought out by enthusiasts.
Top of the engine tree was the 3L V6 fitted to this 2001 example. Good for close on 200bhp, it is a torquey motor that makes light work of long trips, particularly when fitted with the 5spd automatic gearbox of this car. It is finished in silver with black leather and despite being used and enjoyed over its life presents in very good order for the mileage.
