Finding a genuine Supersport Targa is quite difficult; finding one like this is exceptional. Supported low miles, superb aesthetics, matching numbers and C16 (IK specification) RHD factory option M491.
It is believed that Porsche manufactured just 63 M491 'wide-body' Targa for the UK in 1989
The Supersport is also known as SSE (Special Sports Equipment) and 'Turbo-Look' (mainly in in Europe).
Registered new on 1st August 1989, the first day for 'G' registration cars and supplied by Charles Follett (OPC London). Judging by the VIN number of this car (1017), it seems it is one of the very very last of right drive UK cars.
Guards red (L80K) with Linen leather and carpets, black dashboard and trim, all in beautiful condition. Embracing the wide-body Turbo-Look (as they were known in Europe), the M491 factory option variants have the deep front spoiler and 'tea-tray' rear wing of their turbo charged relatives, plus the uprated brake system, wider rear track and wider 16 inch Fuchs alloys.
In addition this particular car has the rare M220 option, 40% limited slip differential.
Additionally it has a modern 'Porsche Classic Radio-Navigation system. 3. 5-inch touchscreen with navigation, AM/ FM radio with CD, DVD, MP3 and SD card capabilities. The Bluetooth system also allows for hands-free telephone calls. It also has a Cobra Category 1 alarm system.
Powered by a normally aspirated 3. 2 litre air-cooled 6 cylinder (for C16 models, 930/ 20 motor without catalytic converters making 231 bhp) coupled with the G50 5-speed gearbox. The engine shows no signs of ever being rebuilt, although the heat exchangers and exhaust look to be replacements.
Complete with original book pack, service book (with a dozen stamps) and driver's manual, tool roll and original spare wheel.
The most recent service (a major including spark plugs, brake fluid, fuel filter and gearbox oil) was carried out in July 2021 at 42, 331 miles by OPC Wolverhampton.
