We are proud to offer the very unique opportunity to own our custom built Norton 961 MM Flat Track. This bike started its life as one of only five replicas of the iconic Ron Wood ‘Big Tube’ Norton flat track racer, which won the AMA Ascot Park Half-Mile National event three years in a row in the early 1970s.
This modern replica was built by 72 Motorcycles, in collaboration with Norton and is powered by the 960cc parallel-twin engine, producing 80bhp and 65lb-ft of torque, coupled to a five-speed transmission and dubbed the "MM".
Since being purchased its last owner decided he could do better and with no expense spared continued to have the bike upgraded into its present reincarnation. The bike was fitted with new wheels, hand made titanium exhaust, upgraded headlamp assembly, new seat, mudguards and last but not least a one off bespoke black and silver paint scheme. In 2015, Norton CEO Stuart Garner was approached by Jamie Ireson of Brighton, England-based customs outfit 72 Motorcycles with the idea for a limited run of bikes paying homage to Ron Wood’s 1970s Norton flat track racers. Ron Wood famously teamed up with tuning legend CR Axtell to create a handful of Norton-based dirt track racers that were surprisingly successful in professional competition.
