This car was built by Watson rally in 2003 for the car's second owner after being owned from new by a lady since 1993, only covering 10, 000 mile. Since the drivetrain change it has only completed another 10, 000 miles since and this is evident in the condition of the shell. The body is generally very tidy as can be seen in the photos, there are only a couple bad points on the exterior; I’ve noticed are a crack on the centre of the bonnet (most likely a remnant of the lengthening operation). And secondly, there are a couple bubbles by the passenger side of the windscreen which are covered up with a small piece of tape (by the last owner). Otherwise, the paint is very good and when freshly cleaned, the black paint is a near mirror finish! The car retains it's original interior in very nice condition (apart from the Momo Prototipo steering wheel, the original comes with the car!).
The work done by Watson rally to convert the car included fitting a late metro subframe to the front to carry the Honda B16A2 engine and box. They also fitted servo assisted vented disk brakes and MGF 4 piston calipers which work very well. Due to the metro subframe, the car runs on Metro Gti Lattice wheels with good condition tyres. The front end of the car, including the wings and bonnet were all extended around 90mm to fit the engine and not dig into the firewall and cabin space. I have also recently fitted fully adjustable suspension; height, stiffness and camber so you can tune it to how you like it. The engine is managed by a Datafast ECU which there are rolling road printouts showing the tune of 155bhp; if you are interesting in tuning the car, it also comes with an old laptop with all the required software to tune the ECU. I also fitted a larger battery to help the bigger engine turn over faster on starting.
The Mini had another clean MOT in January so is ready for use over the summer!
Overall, this is a fantastic car to drive and I will be sad to see it go but new projects mean I do not have the space any more.
