This 1997 Porsche 993 Targa is a gorgeous car, finished in sumptuous Arena Red Metallic with two-piece 17-inch alloy wheels, which have recently been refurbished.
The interior boasts Marble leather hard-backed Sports seats, which are supportive and comfortable and in lovely condition. The car has air-conditioning, which has just been renovated with a new compressor, so it blows icy cold. There’s a six-speed manual transmission, too.
With under 66, 000 miles on the clock, the Porsche has a very well documented service history, with a fully stamped service book and a large folder of paperwork going back to 2002. The last service was in October 2021. As well as routine servicing, work of note includes a Targa roof refurbishment in 2018, a new clutch at 64, 000 miles, plus a myriad of other jobs showing that the car has been cherished and work attended to as required. It has the original PA1000 alarm system with fobs and ‘red key’.
It’s hard to fault this superb example of a rare Porsche. The 993 Targa was only sold in 1996 and 1997, and it’s unusual to find one in Arena Red Metallic, which is a sought after colour. The 993 reinvented the Targa concept, with a large glass roof which, at the touch of a button, retracts under the rear window to give wind in the hair motoring. When closed, the glass panel gives the interior a light and airy feel, while another button operates a blind to keep out strong sun. It’s a clever system.
