1927 Triumph Model NP 500cc SV. A 'Bill Little' classic registered by him in the early 1980s. Consequently, the bike currently benefits from a fully transferable registration number. Completed numerous Banbury Runs.
A direct descendant of the ultra-reliable 'Trusty' Triumph Models H and P, this rare Model NP (1927 only) is remarkably correct in virtually every aspect. It is currently fitted with a 1925 Model P SV engine which was fitted while the correct 1927 SV engine underwent mechanical renovation. Both engines are included in the sale, or the bike can be immediately reinstated to the original 1927 powerplant which will require a 'breaking in' period.
The rebuilt '27 engine has been sleeved and bored back to original specification, new main bearings, valve guides, and complete overhaul. A new worm drive for the mechanical oil pump has been sourced, as has a new piston. The '27 engine is 'as new' but the bike has been running on the '25 engine purely as a convenience and to keep the bike in service (i. e. off the bench!) as long as possible.
The mechanical condition of the bike is excellent and starts, shifts and brakes as it should. Capable of 50+ mph in the right hands. Equally well suited (as most big sidevalve machines) for a sidecar. A twist grip is currently fitted but the lever throttle is in place and can easily be reinstated. The petrol tank is useable but requires a minor repair due to a pinhole in a soldered seam (a quality tank lining should solve this problem) - hence the non standard tank paint scheme (keeps the rivet counters entertained!). New Dunlop K70 tyres and tubes. Period-correct removable doctor's satchel mounted to rear carrier. A complete, pristine condition and fully operational Lucas acetylene light set will also be provided (not pictured).
Apologies for the small piece of red tubing fitted to the fuel tap - this was put on to drain the petrol tank when not being used and I forgot to remove it for the pictures!
VMCC dating certificate, current V5C, period literature, and extensive correspondence with the great veteran Triumph specialist Peter Cornelius are also included. This bike is ready to ride and perfect for local shows and club events.
