“Collection by Vermant” is pleased to be able to offer you this truly exceptional Volkswagen Beetle Convertible. This Beetle was delivered new by Garage Etienne L. Schippers N. V. (Mechelen, Belgium) on the 14th of september 1979. 1979 was the final year of production of the Beetle Convertible, making this car quite rare and special. This specific Beetle was bought new by mister Alfons Vermeren and his wife Liliane Pepermans for the amount of 259. 735 Belgian francs. The original purchase invoice is still present to confirm this. This also indicates that the car is still in its factory correct specification of white with a black simili interior.
The bodywork of this Beetle was in very sound a rustfree condition, considering its age, when it arrived with us. Unfortunately, over the years the paintwork of the car slowly faded. The combination of fade and also minor damages (stone chipping, scratches from use) meant that the car needed a full respray to bring it back to its former glory. This was subsequently performed in our bodyshop. During the refit of the bodypanels, every rubber was replaced and most of the chrome trim on the car was either polished or also replaced with new parts. Because of this partial rejuvenation, the car is back to being in showroom condition.
Besides the bodywork of the car, also the mechanicals were taken care of recently. In the last 500 km, multiple items were replaced such as the track rods, brake pads and discs in the front, brake shoes in the rear, new tyres, new ignition lock and an alignment.
What makes this Beetle so unique, besides its condition, is the history of it. Sinds being deliverd in 1979, this Beetle has remained in the same family for 43 years. Besides the original purchase invoice, the original books, warranty documents and manuals are also still present.
