Description
Just arrived at South Norfolk Classics
1953 Volkswagen Beetle 1131cc Oval window finished in (L11) Pastel Green with Taupe interior.
This stunning rare early Type 1 beetle was in incredibly long term ownership by the late John Maxwell who was one of the Volkswagen clubs most well known and respected figures.
John was often described as a “pillar of the classic Volkswagen community” and held titles such as Club secretary and Club parts and restoration officer.
Restored in the mid nineties to concours show standard with attention to detail and quality second to none, RCT296 was owned by John up until his sad passing in 2019.
The condition today is nothing short of stunning with just the unavoidable couple of light stone chips but that’s it !
RCT has attended club events all over Europe and is a very well known admired and respected car in the club and is believed to be the third oldest Type 1 Bettle in the UK.
Having won multiple trophies and awards RCT has featured in the “ Classic Beetle - a VW celebration” book.
The Beetle appears highly original with the exception of some number mounted indicators replacing the fitted semaphore indicators, there is also a very desirable and rare complete Hazet tool kit present with the car.
This truly is an exceptional example of a rare highly desirable Beetle with a lovely provenance.
Please take a look at our detailed pictures to see the quality of this wonderful car.
