Without doubt the Lotus Elan + 2 is one of Collin Chapmans master pieces with contemporary road tests praising the cars incisive handling and fantastic performance courtesy of its lightweight and powerful twin cam engine.
Registered in 1971, our Elan is finished in the classic combination of carnival red and looks fantastic sitting on its original gloss black center lock Dunlop alloy wheels. The paintwork is simply lovely with a deep glossy shine, whilst all the shut lines are spot on.
The interior is finished in black which compliments the exterior perfectly, whilst the walnut dashboard is a classic British affair being stocked with an array of toggle switches and Smiths gauges, giving a wonderful period feel to the snug cockpit.
Having covered a shade over 54, 200 miles the car drives superbly, no doubt helped by it being maintained by the best people in the business.
To call the history file extensive would be understating it, with numerous invoices by recognised Lotus specialists such as Paul Matty and Christopher Neil present; in addition to possibly the most telling invoice from Lotus Twin Cam Specialists JSM who supplied a completely rebuilt engine to sprint specification, which no doubt is why the car accelerates with such aplomb.
It would take an age to detail all the history, but take it from us, if you are interested in this car the paperwork will give you a warm fuzzy feeling and a definite degree of comfort knowing that the car has been loved, cherished and maintained properly.
The last service was carried out in April 2017, at 54058 miles and shortly after the car was put into storage and has remained unused since.
As nice underneath as it is on top, you are welcome to come and inspect this car on our ramp, and before delivery to it’s new owner we will thoroughly prepare and fully service the car.
Finding a 1971 Lotus Elan +2s in this condition is a very rare find, and we feel you will be hard pressed to find a better example.
