LXV Background
In 2013 Land Rover launched the Defender LXV Special Edition to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the start of Series 1 Land Rover production.
Taking its name from '65' in roman numerals, the Defender LXV was unveiled at the start of a celebration event held at the Packington Estate near Land Rover’s Solihull factory. Land Rover chose the Packington Estate for its birthday celebration as it was the original test location for the 1947-48 Land Rover prototypes. The estate continued to used by Land Rover until the early 1970s, when the Range Rover was being developed.
In the UK, the LXV was limited to just 65 units, all be based on the two-door Defender 90 Hard Top model. As with the standard Defender 90 of the era, the LXV was powered by the 2. 2-litre diesel engine mated to a six speed manual that developed 120bhp and 360Nm of torque.
To make the LXV model stand out, Land Rover added 16-inch Sawtooth alloy wheels, whilst all UK models come in Santorini Black with contrasting Corris Grey roof, grille and headlight surrounds.
The interior boasts full leather seats with LXV-embossed front headrests and unique orange contrast stitching on the seats, steering wheel and centre cubby compartment. Finishing the look is a union flag decal on the rear of the Defender.
Provenance:
Built in 2013 to UK Specification it was supplied new on September 25th 2013 by Cambrian Land Rover of Aberystwyth and registered as CU63VJP. The first keeper would keep the vehicle for the next 6 years using it sparingly and amassing less than 6000 miles in that time. The second owner treated his new toy to the cherished registration K9 LXV and a full detail including 5 year GTechniq Ceramic.

The Santorini Black paint is in fantastic order throughout with perfect factory shut lines and a deep glossy finish having been protected by a 5 Year Gtechniq Platinum Ceramic coating. The Corris Grey contrasting roof is also unmarked. The Grey factory spec sawtooth alloys are unmarked and fitted with the correct MTR off road tyres and the side steps are as new. All the LXV exclusive branding is original and undamaged. The underside was waxoyled from new, and this has recently been properly re-applied. This really is a cosseted vehicle from fastidious and enthusiastic owners.
Interior:
The interior is a fabulous place to reside with the unique LXV Full Ebony Taurus leather high back seats with orange contrast stitch and embossed logo headrests. The leather and contrast stich also extends to the steering wheel and the factory fitted high box cubby. Pleasingly the vehicle is supplied with both the original LXV exclusive mats and a set of rubber over mats. The Alpine audio is factory correct and the painted dash centre and trim are all complete and free from damage including the switch gear. The rear tub has been carpet lined and checker plated to both sound deaden and protect respectively.

As one of just 65 Examples and with just 40, 000 miles, one previous owner, fully documented service history and a clean health check this vehicle really stands out amongst its often thrashed ex workhorse peers. Its condition is best described as time warp. The exterior and interior are quite simply fantastic. The car is supplied with all booklets and instructions in the original leatherette book pack including and the factory roadside assistance card. All keys are present as are the tools.
