We are pleased to offer this rare Pick-Up variant of Standard’s Vanguard, one of the landmark cars from the early post war years.
This particular ‘Ute’, a Phase II, was originally exported, in 1953, in crates and assembled in Australia. It was returned to the UK in 2005 and then completely stripped and restored over the next two years.
Smartly painted in cream over dark green, the Standard still presents very well. The interior features a bench seat which was specific to the export market and is upholstered in a complimentary shade of green with green carpets on the floor. The headlining is in excellent condition.
There are period accessories fitted such as the sun visors and headlamps peaks. A tow bar is also fitted.
The bed is in excellent condition as is the green Everflex cover. There is a useful lockable wooden chest fitted behind the cab which contains a jack and wheelbrace.
The Standard has recently benefitted from a full brake system overhaul and comes with many useful spares including a new clutch, head gasket and a full set of wheel trims and hubcaps.
An instant starter, the 2. 2 litre engine performs well with plenty of torque. The three speed gearbox is operated via a column change which works correctly.
The engine shows good oil pressure and the ammeter indicates a healthy charging system.
The Standard comes with a history file containing lots of recent invoices, period literature, some restoration photos and a comprehensive selection of handbooks and manuals. There are two sets of keys.
Light commercials such as this are very suited to being used as promotional vehicles and are consequently hugely popular.
