Description
Frazer Nash Ltd. was founded in 1924 in Kingston-on-Thames by 36-year-old Archibald Goodman Frazer Nash. In 1926 the brothers H. J. and W. H. Adlington took over the company and renamed it AFN (Adlington Frazer Nash). In 1934 AFN became general importer in England for BMW cars. After World War Two, the company was given back its original name Frazer Nash.
In cooperation with the English car manufacturer Bristol, who, as a German loot, now owned all the construction plans of the BMW 328, the chassis and the legendary BMW 328 engine were developed. Design features of the Frazer Nash Mille Miglia, such as the frame, front axle suspension, etc. are reminiscents of a BMW 328 on closer inspection.
Between 1952 and 1953, a total of only 11 Mille Miglia vehicles were built. Since these vehicles were handmade, no two vehicles are alike. Each one is unique in itself.
The vehicle with the registration number YMC 81 was first delivered to Mr. Orr I Manchester in 1952. The complete history and therefore all 11 other car owners are known. Among them the vehicle was driven in the following years on a multiplicity of high-ranking car races with consistently good placements (Goodwood, Silverstone, Eifelrenen Nürburgring, Le Mans, Targa Florio, Mille Miglia etc.).
Since 2003, Frazer Nash Mille Miglia 421/ 100/ 166 has been in the hands of the current owner and has been successfully entered in numerous events, e. g. five times at the Mille Miglia (fourth best German team in 2006, third best in 2016) - without any technical defect or failure.
Due to their rarity and the exclusivity associated with them, vehicles with the Frazer Nash emblem are a safe ticket to all major events in historic motorsport. The original windscreen, a broken, original Frazer Nash engine and extensive documentation come with the vehicle. There are numerous historical and current publications about the vehicle, including Motor Klassik, Thoroughbred & Classic Cars, The Auto-car and various books.
No Frazer Nash Mille Miglia has changed its owner in recent years. A current appraisal is available and certifies that the vehicle has a value corresponding to its exclusivity.
