Description
This is a unique opportunity to own an exquisite example of a Porsche 993 Carrera 4 manual Coupe. A car of collector quality and unbelievable provenance, it is probably the best available on the market today. This special 911 has only had two owners in total, with the last owner purchasing the car from AFN Reading in May 1999.
This car has an exceptional history with no less than 25 stamps in the service book 1 of which is AFN Guildford, the rest AFN / Porsche Reading. The car is still on its original AFN Reading plates, has rear windscreen sticker and tax disc holder.
We have two sets of keys and third blade, original key rings and even the added touch of dealer key tags when the car was supplied by AFN Reading.
We have the most complete paperwork history file we have ever seen on an air cooled Porsche, complete with every service invoice / MOT from 1999, leather wallet complete with service book, owners manual, assistance booklet, service list booklet and an added touch of AFN business cards.
This car is also registered on the Porsche classic register for which we have the certificate card for.
We have carried out a full machine polish on the car so the body work looks beautiful and fitted 4 brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 2 N rated tyres. The car will be serviced by Porsche Reading before delivery and have a new MOT at the same time.
The Porsche 993 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between January 1994 and early 1998, replacing the 964. Its discontinuation marked the end of air-cooled 911 models.
The 993 was also the first 911 to receive a six speed transmission.
The external design of the Porsche 993, penned by English designer Tony Hatter, retained the basic body shell architecture of the 964 and other earlier 911 models, but with revised exterior panels, with much more flared wheel arches, a smoother front and rear bumper design, an enlarged retractable rear wing, and teardrop mirrors.
The Carrera 4 has an automatic braking differential; it brakes the inner wheel when accelerating out of a corner. On the exterior, the Carrera 4 is visually distinguishable by clear front indicators and rear red turn indicators. The brake calipers are painted silver, as is the Carrera 4 badge on the engine cover. The center wheel-caps carry the Carrera 4 logo instead of the Porsche crest.
This a UK C16 car and benefits from the updated Varioram engine. Porsche’s VarioRam induction system was designed to improve low to mid-range torque by optimising airflow at different rpms. Introduced on the 993 Carrera RS’s M64/ 20 engine in 1995, the technology was then rolled out onto the standard 993 Carrera range with the introduction of the 1996 M64/ 21 engine.
It looks beautiful in the rare combination of Porsche Schwarz with Black leather with the following specification taken from the factory under the bonnet - 373/ 374 Hard Back Sports Seat Height Electrically Adjustable, 398 17" Cup Wheels, 425 Rear Window Wiper, 567 Top Tinted Windscreen, 573 Air Conditioner and 650 Sun-Moon-Roof.
