PLATINUM METALLIC WITH CORK AND PINSTRIPE INTERIOR

SINGLE MIRROR MODEL

Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this super 911 Carrera 3. 0 Targa which is finished in the original period Platinum metallic colour with contrasting cork and pinstripe interior. The Targa was cherished by its last keeper for almost 40 years, which means that it has retained a very high level of originality.
For the 1976 model year, the 911 Carrera 3. 0 was equipped with a new 2994 cc engine, which was the same as the engine unit in the new Turbo model, but with domed pistons used to achieve the raise the compression ratio to 8. 5:1. The Carrera 3. 0’s introduction heralded an important development in the 911's production process: the adoption of Thyssen anti-corrosion zinc coating for the steel body panels, which was a vast improvement on previous methods. In addition to this, the use of rust-resistant aluminium components was extended, and they included the bumpers, the rear semi-trailing arms, the front suspension cross member. The stainless-steel Targa roll-over structure was also fully corrosion resistant. The clever Targa roof panel is simple to release and then stow away in the front luggage compartment, providing enjoyable open-air motoring.
The engine produced 200 bhp and used Nikasil-coated cylinder bores, an aluminium crankcase and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. The torque was more plentiful in the lower rev range, making the 911 Carrera 3. 0 more driveable and far more economical. 255 Nm of torque was now developed at just 4, 200 rpm. The new 3. 0 model also featured wider rear wheel arches and improved heat management in the cabin. During its two-year life span, very few Targa versions were produced.
Porsche Cars Great Britain supplied our 911 3. 0 Targa in September 1976, and boasts a comprehensive history file detailing service invoices, receipts and historic MOT certificates dating back to 1985. The car has been improved from recent expenditure of more than £50, 000 to elevate it to its former glory. This 911 Carrera 3. 0 Targa is an opportunity for a collector to purchase a highly original example of Porsche 911 history.
