We are very pleased to offer a fantastic and super rare 1979 Austin Mini finished in the best period colour of Russet brown. I am very biased as my first Mini was this colour and it has remained my favourite seventies colour ever since and it has become a firm favourite with many people. This very special Mini has a lot to offer as it has benefitted from some very useful upgrades as well as being enthusiast owned culminating in one of the nicest seventies Minis I have driven. This Mini started its life as HM Forces vehicle and was used up until 1985 before being registered for civilian use, it still has the original plate giving its commission number which is part of this Mini history. It has been cared for all its life since and has lots of period charm. This is a matching numbers example and still wearing its original FE body number on the inner wing. It is accompanied with a large history folder detailing much recent expenditure. It had a clock change due to a dash board upgrade in 2012 when the mileage was 44k and since then it has covered 7k which totals 53k which is very low considering it is now 43 years young.
Get this Mini out on the open road and you are going to want to own it. The well tuned 998 engine is super smooth and benefits from a stage one kit and side exit RC40 exhaust. The gearbox is also tight and precise. It holds a steady 60 psi oil pressure and easily keeps up with modern traffic. I have cruised it on the Motorway and it is just smooth, very capable and a joy to drive and feels ready to drive anywhere. It benefits from gas shocks, hi-lo suspension and servo operated Cooper S disc brakes so it stops as well as it goes with excellent handling.
The interior has also had a complete bespoke make over and continues the brown and cream theme. It has fully adjustable seats with head rests with matching door cards with alloy door trim. The original roof liner is in very good condition and it also has a deep pile brown carpet. This interior is very well thought out with lots of attention to detail. It also features a full length walnut dash with a 6 clock dash including a rev counter, volts, clock and oil pressure and that beautiful wood rim steering wheel. It also has a Pioneer CD/ USB/ AUX stereo with upgraded 6x9 speakers under the rear seat and a USB/ 12V socket under the dash. It also has an internal bonnet release. The boot is fully lined and the engine bay is also nicely presented.
This Mini has a very solid shell with the correct vented sills, body coloured floor pans and boot floor. It was Ziebart wax injected from new which has really stood it in good stead. The paintwork is well presented with a deep shine. It does have the odd blemish but then this is a Mini that wants to be driven and enjoyed, its a driver car and the whole package fits together very well and it has that period look. The chrome work is in very good condition and features a Cooper wide slat grille and P700 headlamps.
This wonderful machine is fully serviced, checked and really did not need a tune as its set up beautifully. It has a near full MOT and is MOT and Tax exempt and it also offers the pure Mini seventies driving experience in what is now a very rare colour for a Mini.
