Description
Hello and welcome to the sale of my rover 75. This top spec v6 auto has been a joy to own, and has come quite a long way with me. I'm not going to go into the spec, as its on line and those who know these cars, will know what this spec offers. It all works, even the cruise and the air conditioning.
owned by myself for five years, and a good friend of mine for a further two years. Who has had to give the car back to me now as the ulez is extending into his neighbourhood. We are both rover enthusiasts and he would often bring the car to me for servicing, brakes and other minor works, along with a few beers.
the car has given both of us great service over the years. We can account between us, for over 60, 000 of her 120, 000 miles. In that time, there have been many parts and service intervals. The car comes with a service history, and is presented as serviced by myself, along with recent work. I shall try to list it all.
21/ 7/ 22 replaced rear discs and pads, replaced front pads with new spare set.
carried out oil and filter change.
4/ 5/ 22 new battery.
13/ 08/ 21 radiator and ac fan replaced, front disc and pad set. Oil and filter change. Cam and crank sensors changed.
1/ 2/ 21 track rod end, front arb links, and cv joint replaced. Pas hose by pertek.
27/ 1/ 21 cam belts and auxiliary belts changed. New thermostat. New water pump. Coolant changed. New radiator cap.
8/ 12/ 20 replaced vac line on cruise control
* also replaced the vis flap as it had broken. 3D printed version, fitted to actuator.
previously, in my ownership... all 4 tyres. Fuel pump. Pas pump. Heater matrix. All 4 shocks. Starter motor. Exhaust back box and mounts. All engine and gearbox mounts. Wheel bearings. The registration plate light circuit card was replaced with a version from Moss.
All this and more consumables than it is worth it to mention. I also fitted the wood steering wheel, union alloys, and embossed head rests.
I took her on back in 2015, having searched for months for the right 75 in the right spec. She was for sale up near lancaster. No one wanted her as "it don't start in the rain, and i don't know why" as the advert said. I got lucky finding a good one. It took just £12 and less that one hour to refurbish the starter motor, and have an excellent car for many years. This V6 is the best one I've driven, picks up well and sounds great.
So, that's the servicing highlights and history. On to the car as she stands today.
at 21 years old, and 123, 000 miles, she's no low miler or mint condition car. There are scuffs on both bumpers. The alloys all have some curbing, the interior carpet isn't quite as clean as it once was and the wood wheel leather grips are looking tired. Most panels have a stone chip, blemish or something imperfect about them. The 75s love to scratch their front window up against the seals, and this has happened. It's light and could polish out. As usual with these cars, the ipk and tv screen are becoming lined. Both can be used still. The fuel gauge only follows on if you fill the tank right up, then it reads perfectly. I don't know why it does this, but if it's full, then it's accurate. I always run a full tank in it anyway, so no issue to me.
none of these bad points are impossible to rectify. I think with time and effort she could be a very tidy example again.
so what's good about it? she starts, stops and drives perfectly. the brakes have just been done all round. tyres have plenty of life in them. electrics are good. ac and cruise work. heated power seats, all windows etc they work. the spec was chosen back in 2001 by someone who knew what to get, and what not to get. no sunroof troubles here, or pointless powerfold mirrors. the toh plate was longbridge, so maybe a demonstration car? she's early longbridge built, so best of both worlds, before project drive cut the icing off the cake. bridge cars seem to fair better with corrosion too. wings and arch are like new on this one. no faults on the dash. she's just been serviced too.
it's still a very nice place to be. very, very comfortable, and effortless to drive. lots of leather and wood, with a v6 sound track and a smooth ride quality. i brought her up from london last week, and almost won the argument between head and heart. almost. very much a car for an enthusiast of the model.
she comes with a few spares, service history. Original wallet, haynes manual, and even a spare starter motor. two keys, both of which i reshelled back around 2017.
i am open to reasonable offers, but would expect a viewing before any negotiation is made. i honestly would keep this car if i had the space for her, but the car i inherited back in december 19 is still with me, which means she has to move on.
7 years all in. quite a long time for "just an old rover" to be part of your life. she will be missed.
thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings. if there's anything you would like to know, please feel free to contact me. If i'm at work, or on night shift, it may take time but i will try to get back to you.
Thanks for your interest.
