Way back in 2012, we acquired this 1997/ R Defender 90 300TDi hardtop, with a view to putting it on a galvanised chassis.
Our workshop has been so busy over the past decade that we haven’t had time to do anything with it, it’s time to offer it as ‘spares or repair’ as I don’t think we’ll ever get round to it. .
It drove into our workshop yard in 2012 and hasn’t been started since. We haven’t attempted to start it due to the likelihood of the cambelt snapping after all this time. But it does roll as we’ve moved it a couple of times.
It’s basically complete bar a few bits we’ve robbed over the years as emergency replacements for clients, such as, but not limited to, a couple of light lenses, doorhandles, and a lower door hinge.
Be in no doubt, the chassis is absolutely shot, especially the main rails under the cab area. A couple of small patches wont do the job. Doubtless there’s also rust in the bulkhead and door bottoms.

A little irrelevant after all this time, but spec includes power steering, Scorpion Racing 2in lift kit with uprated springs and shocks, a matching set of 4 BFG LT235/ 85 R16 tyres on Boost alloy rims, sunroof , snorkel, front A bar with auxiliary lights, steering guard, diff guard, chequerplate trim, , rockslider style sidesteps, roof beacon, alpine lights, and mudflaps.
