Chevrolet's Universal AD series was introduced in 1930 to substitute the International AC series and featured numerous mechanical and comfort-oriented improvents. In specific, the power output of its formidable 'Cast Iron Wonder' 6-cylinder 194 ci engine was increased by 10% to 50 bhp via larger intake valves, smaller exhaust valves and revised manifold. In addition the engine's durability was further enhanced with stronger crankshaft bearings and webbing. Ride quality was also addressed via fitting Lovejoy's hydraulic shock absorbers, smaller 19-inch wheels and larger tyres. Usability was enhanced with an angled, glare-free windshield and revised legible circular gauges that were mounted in the dashboard alongside the fuel gauge previously situated at the fuel tank. The overall increased comfort and raised power allowed Chevrolet Motors to regain its lead in the market that was lost due to Ford's Model A.
Chassis 1834100 was manufactured in 1930 at Fisher's St. Louis plant as a 2-door coupe in black with white beltline molding and optional wire wheels. Soon after it was delivered and registered in the State of Texas under number 345339 which was retained for the following 7 decades. In the early 2000s the vehicle was totally restored with new woodwork, new interior and a chrome plated dashboard was fitted with original stored. It was thereon showcased at local Antique Automobile of America Club events and later overseas at Federation Internationale des Vehicules Anciens in Athens, Greece. It is now offered in spectacular condition throughout, fully certified, with numerous parts, manuals, original dashboard and original set of tools.
