Description
This stunning late Austin Healey 3000 is finished in its original colours of Healey Blue Metallic with (rarely factory optioned but now incredibly desirable) Ivory Duotone, a Navy interior and Navy wet weather gear. This is a fully restored example with just 6, 800 miles since its cosmetic, mechanical and structural overhaul.
Restoration was undertaken by a Healey specialist between 2005-2009 and was very comprehensive with the car completely stripped down to a bare tub, new aluminium wings fitted for a lighter body and greater longevity, the car completely rewired, re-plumbed, all mechanical components restored, the car re-trimmed and neatly painted in stages with a stone chipped underside for durability and greater year-round protection.
Mechanically this Healey is excellent with a particularly potent fast road rebuilt engine (also with 6, 800 miles on) which is wonderfully smooth and significantly powerful than a standard MkIII. The car has great manners so could be used to pootle about in or have a B-road blast. Gearbox changes are smooth and an uprated overdrive unit engages faster and smoother than a modern double-clutch.
Inside the car was fully re-trimmed at the time of restoration with nice additionally luxuries like bound wool carpet and a Navy mohair hood plus a Navy mohair hood bag, all in good condition and with the roof of satisfactory fit.
Cosmetically this Healey still presents very well, with marks commiserate with its low mileage and the duration of time since restoration. Paintwork has a very Healthy lustre and is a good finish making this a 3000 the new owner could be very proud of. Supplied with MOT, British Motor Heritage Certificate of Authenticity, large paperwork history file, restoration documentation (photographic and paper) plus jack and hammer.
