This fine example of a 420SL is presented in the highly sought after colourway of Pine Green (862) with a matching hard top and combined with a sumptuous Mushroom Leather (275) interior. This is further complimented by a Dark Green soft top which is in fantastic condition.
This 420SL offers a generous specification including a Limited Slip Differential, heated mirrors with electrical adjustment (nearside), paintwork preservation, electric windows and sun visors with vanity mirrors for both passenger and driver. For added convenience is heat-insulating glass and a rear heated windowpane. For added safety, the original owner specified a fire extinguisher in the unlikely event of a fire.

Exterior:
As you can see from the images, the exterior Pine Green (982) paintwork is in fantastic condition, due to the care of the small number of owners and the paintwork preservation utilised with this example. All chrome and side mouldings are straight and absent of dents, fading or scratches, neatly amplifying the beautiful hue of the Pine Green (982) exterior colour. All four wheels have stood the test of time, with absolutely no marks or evidence of damage.
At some point in the vehicle’s history, the soft top hood has been replaced with a Dark Green replacement. This fits perfectly and is of the same high quality as the original.
Interior:
The Mushroom Leather (275) interior is rich in colour and condition, with very few signs of age. There are natural creases as you would expect with leather, but absolutely no rips or stains across the two seats. The perforated centre panels are beautifully presented and are indicative of a luxury eighties Mercedes-Benz. The centre console is in good condition with the handbrake cover showing no signs of cracking. The vehicle also possesses its original Blaupunkt cassette player which operates as it should.
Having been specified without rear seats, this 420SL benefits from even more storage space, as the rear parcel shelf can be utilised for additional items.
Engine Bay:
Under the bonnet, the 4. 2 litre unit is in top order and has been mechanically signed-off by our Specialist team of R107 experts. As you can see, some of the original factory stickers are still present - the Blower Motor Cover could however benefit from a new factory correct sticker.
Overall, this is a fantastic R107 420SL in excellent condition and presented in a very rare colour combination. Yours to be enjoyed and reap the rewards of an SL that is only going up in value.
HISTORY:
Ordered new in 1987, this 420SL would reside in London for its first seven years of ownership, used for a healthy amount of miles by its first owner, Mr Pritchard-Smith, who clocked up 23745 miles in this period. Following this, the 420SL would move on to Mr Gould of Hampstead, who would own the vehicle for three years. The 420SL then moved on to Mr Farrow of Dorchester, who owned the 420SL for just eight months before passing it on to Mr Stewart of Dorset who owned the vehicle for 5 years before it was sold onto Mr Vye via Caffyns Mercedes-Benz in Wessex with 56, 132 miles in the year 2000. Mr Vye has owned it since and covered less than 10, 000 miles to give an odometer reading of 63, 333.
