“Collection by Vermant” is delighted to be able to present you this rather unique Volvo Amazon. The Amazon was the most sold car in the Volvo Line up until the 140 series was released. It main feature was its usability, but still being a fun car to drive. This ultimately led to numerous rally victories and the release of the more sporty versions (122S and 123GT). Throughout the years, the Amazon was equipped with numerous engines, starting from the B16 engine and going aal the way up to the B20 in its final years of production. This specific Amazon is equipped with the B18 engine, paired to a manual 4 speed gearbox with synchronised gears. It was delivered new in its home country of Sweden on July 17, 1962 to a Mister Stig Annerstedt Nilson in Ystad. In the following years, this Amazon traded hands 2 more times and came in the possession of the third owner. He meticulously kept the history of the car and added every single invoice for the car to his folder. This means that this Amazon is presented with a very unique and extensive history file. The first years of the car are also documented in the original service book of the car, which is extremely rare. This service book is not only original to this car, but is also in new condition.
When looking at the exterior of this Amazon, we can find the beautiful colour of Mist Green (73). This is a very nice light green colour that also has a greyish hue to it. This is a very youthful colour that suits the car very well. The paint of the car is still in excellent condition after being completely repainted in 2017 by Ubilack in Malmö, Sweden. This was done to a very high level and no traces of the work are visible. On the front of the car, we can find the very rare first generation grilles, that are still in perfect condition. On the side of the car, we can find the beautiful steel rims with the correct hub caps. The wheels (including spare) have been fitted with a brand new set of white wall tyres. To protect the underside of this Amazon, it was protected with an underbody seal from Dinitrol. Not once, but a total of 13 times throughout its life. This not only preserved the underside, but kept it in a unique condition and made the car ready for many more years to come!
Going over to the interior, we can find a beautiful interior that is finished in a Beige/ Nougat (404-192) colour. This colour is the original for this specific car. It was however completely redone a few years ago to bring it back to new condition. During this refresh, not only the upholstery was renewed but the car also received a new set of carpets. Original items were however preserved as much as possible and can still be found throughout the interior.
This Amazon is not only visually in top condition, but is mechanically very sound. The engine runs very smooth (almost silent) and starts immediately. This can all be traced back to the meticulous maintenance that was done under the care of the previous owners.
When looking at the technical inspection documents that are provided, we can find the following entries. These give a great indication of how little the car was used over the years and make the mileage of 152. 700km appear to be original.
