If you want a stunning looking car with exceptional provenance and full history, papers and tools; then this car is it.
I bought this car from the original owner an army Captain in the US Army. I have only really been the custodian of this car, driving it less than 500 miles in the 7 years I have had it.
The car needs a home where it is driven, because it looks and drives beautifully. I have other cars, which is the reason for the sale.
The car has done 69, 000 miles and in the time I have had it, restoration work has been done.
I have recently completely replaced the floors; I have had the engine off the car and have updated and replaced parts that needed it.
The car comes with a hard top included. I have all of the original bills of sale; many document pertaining to the servicing; manuals and rare printed pieces purchased for the car; tools; tonneau cover and more. The car is matching numbers with a heritage certificate and I have photo documentation of the relevant numbers. The car was regularly serviced through private garages and the motor based services within the armed forces.
The car is a 1970 series 2 convertible. It has a generous cabin and power steering, which is a very rare option, making it a pleasure to drive. The car has been garaged throughout its life and currently resides at the property shown in some of the photos. It is regularly turned over and kept charged, with fluid changed regularly.
The engine has been fully serviced; electronic ignition added; the head and the carbs have been removed, cleaned and serviced.
This is a genuine and original car, which turns heads. The car has been assessed by E Type UK. There are always light cosmetic and other elements that one considers improving on a 53 year old car, but they are very few. I would replace the acrylic in the rear window of the hard top next if I were keeping it and possible minor interior changes.
The car has been used in a recent drama The Chelsea Detective and shoots. 1 real owner from new......... I have merely been the custodian of the car for the time I have owned it.
The car was sold from Jaguar to an army captain in Alabama.
I acquired the car in 2016, had it stored by MotorCars Inc in Connecticut and shipped to the UK in 2019, where it has been garaged since.
It is registered on the XKE database and has a Heritage Certificate.
