Vehicle history:
The W 113 was the successor of the 190 SL and with its different engines was located between the 190 SL engines and the 300 SL engines. The "Pagoda" was the first SL for which extensive safety measures were introduced. Since its basis is the floor assembly of the "tail fin" W 111 with a 30 cm shorter wheelbase, the SL also has a stiff passenger cell and crumple zones, slightly deformable front and rear segments. Like the sedan, the interior has been toned down. There are no hard corners and edges. Seat belts were available as optional equipment, as in the predecessor. The steering gear was moved from the crash-prone area of the front end to the bulkhead. The steering column is bent and has joints to prevent the dreaded lance effect in an accident.
This 230 SL was originally delivered to and registered in the United States. From 2012 to 2015, the car was extensively restored and converted to the more powerful 280 SL engine. Two "Classic Data" appraisals are at hand, which certify that the vehicle is in above-average condition. The vehicle is technically flawless and can be used immediately.
