- details above
so, a little bit about my ownership of the car.
I bought this car just over a year ago after having kept an eye out for a good one for several months. The car came with a fat history folder, lots of old MOTs, receipts for servicing, old tax discs, obviously I've kept all this and this comes with the car. In the year I've owned it it's been a really really great car to own and to drive. It sounds and looks fantastic and always turns heads, I will definitely miss this car. It's not let me down over the year, the car starts every time. And the only reason I need to sell it is that I really need something bigger. Since buying the car I have joined a band (I am the drummer) and I need to be able to move a drum kit about, clearly this is not the car for the job!
Details:
Tax exempt (current disc will run until August 30th, but obviously it's free to replace)
12 months MOT (until 20th May 2011)
Driven on agreed value insurance (£4500)
69000 genuine mileage (this tallies with all the MOTS and receipts), very impressive mileage for a 40 year old car.
British racing green
Wire wheels
Britax sunroof
Overdrive fully functional
Four good tyres
lots of chromework
The engine:
The previous owner had a new engine fitted approx. 16000 miles ago (again I have the receipt).
The engine is stage 2 tuned, from the receipt this includes.
Overbored to 1820cc
Gas flowed and ported head (converted to unleaded)
Kent fast road cam (very broad power range, so still pulls well from low revs)
Sports exhaust, the 'centre bomb box' type. Very nice noise, but not too loud inside or out
Full engine balance
Fast road clutch kit
I have to say that these modifications are fantastic, they make the car just a little bit more exciting to drive without compromising the character of the car or going over the top. If I had carried out the modifications I would have done exactly the same. Boost the power, but keep the character.
In keeping with this, it has standard air filters fitted to the standard twin 1. 5inch SUs. Which I think helps to keep the engine noise in the car down slightly. Of course if you want to change the filters for something more sporty it would be exceptionally easy to do, the hard modifications have been done.
Other points about the engine; it runs very smoothly, pulls from very low revs all the way up. Doesn't burn any oil, you can rev this thing all you like and get nothing out of the back except a beautiful sound. That's about all I can think off, I can't say enough good things about the mechanicals of this car though, someone has done a fantastic job! Also it has a kenlowe fan kit fitted which is very useful if you ever get stuck in traffic.
Interior and electrics.
All the gauges work, and all illuminate at night.
The heater works, blows on the screen or on your feet and is actually fairly warm!
Heated rear windscreen
Fitted with CD/ radio tuner, with removable faceplate.
Appropriate sports steering wheel (see pictures)
Wooden MG gearknob
Seats and interior trim in a good used condition as you can see in the pictures
Carpets in very good condition
Brand new spare tyre
The bodywork
Starting underneath, the floorpans, sills, and all structural bodywork are in excellent condition. Being someone that had owned two minis previous to this I well was aware of the rust issues you can get in older cars so I checked this one very thoroughly. On the outside, all the panels are in very good condition as you can see from the pictures. The usual problem areas such as doors, wings, and front and rear valance are all in very good condition too.
I would say that the paintwork is not concourse standard, but to me that is not what owning a classic car is about, you need to enjoy it as well as look after it. So on very close inspection there are some minor imperfections in the paint, but I must stress these are minor, I only mention them for honesty's sake.
Overall, the body is in great condition with no problem areas and nothing to worry about. As I said, the car just sailed through an MOT and I would expect it to pass many more.
Other:
I am a member of the MG owners club, and I have just renewed my membership (I need it to keep my insurance valid). Obviously once I sell the car I will no longer need the membership, I have spoken to them on the phone and they informed me that I can transfer the membership. So the price includes 10 months full MG owners club membership, which allows access to all the online forums, and the monthly magazine.
Viewing and test drives.
The car is currently garaged in south Shropshire and is available to view at any time. If you wish to arrange a viewing then please contact me via phone or email to set a time.
HOWEVER: Due to the classic car insurance policy, which uses an agreed value, I am the only person able to drive this car, not even my close family members get to drive it! This means that I will not be allowing buyers to drive the car themselves, even if you are covered by your own insurance, this would not be an agreed value policy and should there be an accident I would not get a fraction of what it is worth. So, I will be conducting test drives for anyone that wishes to have one. This can be as extensive as you like (within reason!) and I will be happy to do any sort of manoeuvres you want. I'd like you to see how good the car is.
Just a further bit of info, I will be away on a conference from the 21st to the 30th May, so I'm proposing to have a day of test drives on the bank holiday Monday 31st May. However if you are happy to see it move in the driveway, hear it run etc. and buy it without a test drive on the public road then any day before or after the 31st May is fine, just arrange with myself first.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
