Description
In 1984 the VFR1000R was the fastest motorcycle in the world with a top speed of 150 mph and no wonder, the R model being the high-performance member of the VF1000 family with a series of modifications bringing it close to the Honda FWS race bike which was competing in the Daytona 200 and AMA class. The most famous modification made to the V4 in the R model was the addition of gear driven camshafts giving the bike its unique running sound on the road.
Featuring 122 bhp at 10, 000 rpm and 66 ft lbs of torque at 8, 000 RPM, impressive in the day, the R more importantly featured a great amount of advanced engineering elsewhere especially in suspension and braking.
It’s not easy to find a really good VFR1000R but this is just such a bike. A completely original unmodified example, it has covered just 10, 000 miles from new and is in excellent condition in all respects having evidently been carefully looked after throughout its life. It has recently been fully inspected and serviced and is ready to be enjoyed in the coming summer months.
