Descrição

This UK supplied Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 is one of just 52 ever built in RHD specification and was Maranello order #344, first registered on the 29th July 1968 and supplied through Dick Protheroe. RBD 2G comes with a comprehensive, detailed history and has covered an incredibly low mileage of 32, 000, believed genuine and heavily supported by paperwork. Handwritten letters confirm some lovely early history, and we know from the file that it was purchased in 1979 with 24, 000 miles from DK Engineering by an international student studying a Master’s at Edinburgh University. The Ferrari had very little use, and later the owner eventually took the car home to Denmark where it spent five years garaged unused. In 1989 the Ferrari was sold back into the UK.
Now back in the UK with a new owner, the Ferrari was taken to Ferrari specialists Nick Cartwright for a body restoration, the shell was taken down to bare metal, fabrication work carried out as required and then fully re-painted in Chiaro Blue. Various mechanical was also carried out but on completion, the car dry stored once again. Over 1991 and 1992 over £20, 000 was spent on the car and detailed invoices confirm exacts works carried out. In 1999, in order to put the Ferrari back on the road it was transported back to Nick Cartwright and re-commissioned and MOT tested with 25, 104miles. Over the next six years the Ferrari covered 5000 miles before being sold to one of our clients who has owned the car for 18 years.

Over the past 18 years the Ferrari has covered a further 2000 miles. As part of a large collection of cars, the Ferrari has been used regularly for short trips and has been superbly maintained with a huge, comprehensive file of invoice covering upkeep and improvements totalling almost £30, 000. As recent as 2021 and within the past few hundred miles the Ferrari was fully serviced, the air-conditioning system re-instated (new compressor and AC dryer), the brakes serviced which included a new servo assembly and master cylinder. The radiator was also re-conditioned, the fuel pump replaced and in total in 2021 £9500 was spent on the car. Further work over the last 2000 miles and 18 years includes a new three piece clutch kit, new heated rear screen, front and rear screen rubbers, complete new exhaust system and front and rear brake pads and discs.

RBD 2G presents very well with the appearance of a lovely older restoration. With the body restoration during the early 1990's and its ultra-low mileage since, the shell is delightful and straight with a lovely deep older paint finish. Brightwork is excellent, many rubbers have been replaced and the interior is fabulous still retaining a large level of originality. Front seats have had upholstery work, and carpets have been replaced over the years but overall, the cabin feels original and presents as expected of a quality, low mileage vehicle. On the road performance is sensational, the V12 engine offers exceptional performance with excellent oil pressure, the five speed all syncro manual gearbox is slick and fantastic to use and with power steering, air-conditioning, ventilated brake discs, limited slip differential and all round independent suspension, the Ferrari is quite simply first class in terms of performance and luxury.

Over a four-year period only 800 of these incredible cars were built in total, and this stunning, elegant model marked an end of an era for both the single overhead cam V12 Columbo engine as well as the sleek Pininfarina design ensuring this will always be a very special collector's piece that can also prove to be a reliable, and usable car to own. This is without a spectacular motor car and with its impressive service and restoration paperwork, MOT's dating back over 40 years, photos during restoration and of course its very usable condition, this is not just a car for the discerning collector, but also ideal for someone wanting to really use a fantastic driving, 1960's Ferrari GT.
