1931 Riley 9 'Plus Series' Four Seat Tourer
In the present ownership for almost twenty years, this car was acquired through marque specialist the late Barrie Gillies. Having been rebuilt from the bare chassis with a high-quality replica Mk IV Tourer body upon completion the car is reported to have won an award at the Riley Register Coventry Rally.
The Weather equipment remains in good condition and the car presents very well. Much money has been spent over the years to keep the car in good running order with much work done by Suffolk Riley Specialist John Havart
A rebuild of the gearbox and clutch has been carried out by Steve Hughes in Chippenham.
Work has included - replacement of crown wheel and pinion and recent attention to brakes and steering. The front tyres have recently been replaced and the cylinder head removed and valves reground. The carburetor has been overhauled and the exhaust system rebuilt.
Affectionally known as Gertie, this attractive Riley has been enjoyed in both in UK and in France having resided for long periods at the owner’s French home.
Included in the history file are many invoices, photographs and a maintenance and instruction manual.
