1964 Volvo 122s Ruddspeed B18 With Overdrive (Reg: 39 DXC)
A Ruddspeed tuned car on the Ruddspeed Registry – has the Ruddspeed badges on front wings and serial number stamped on a plate fixed to the engine block.
Other Rudspeed improvements are:
Tubular manifold 4 branch to 2, in to silencer through to twin-pipe exhaust
Remote short throw gear lever mounted on centre console
Has been lowered by an inch and a half, should be Koni dampers, but not confirmed.
Smiths Rev counter fitted
There may have been other Ruddspeed improvements but the cylinder head has never been off to find out.
Sits on Minilite alloy wheels with nearly new Michelin 195/ 65 R15s. Has the original engine, fitted with fully rebuilt SU HS6 Carbs by renowned expert Glen Watson of SU Carbs. Engine is lively and pulls hard, being able to keep up with modern traffic – sounds pretty good too.
To make it more appropriate for modern day family driving, it has a push button start, new inertial-reel front belts, comfy Saab 900 seats upholstered in red and black bull hide, full underlay and hand-made Wilton carpet throughout, custom made Cerwyn Vega sound system installed, leaving the original radio intact.
Front floors recently replaced and been Silent Coat treated. Overall the bodywork is good and there is only a little bit of rust on the corners of the door bottoms and the sill top in the nearside rear passenger doorway. The paintwork is in reasonable condition with a few blemishes but the colour is deep with a lovely patina. Chrome is pretty good and polishes up nicely. It has obviously been well looked after in its lifetime. There is a slight oil leak but not sure where it is from.
Customer purchased the car Nov 2021 at 43320 miles and it now sits at 43395. Driven three times in that time, only in the dry, as per the previous owner and kept dry stored. Storage is now becoming an issue, so needs to sell. Comes with a desirable number plate (39 DXC) and a file full of receipts, old MOT’s etc. back to 2000. It is also MOT’d until 18/ 11/ 23.
