WOW, what an opportunity for someone! Martin Howey Classics (Est. 25 years) is offering a 1969 MGC GT in BRG for sale at an extraordinary low price.
Dry stored since 1978, this sought after 3 litre straight-6 GT was only on the road for nine years before it was tucked away. Old-style V5 lists just 2 former keepers and the mileage of just 25, 000 is believed to be correct. With a mere nine years of motoring behind it, then it very probably is!
Within an hour of this listing appearing online, I was contacted by someone who sent me a photo of RTE 936G as a Police car! This is a Lancashire registration and RTE 934G and RTE 935G were also MGC GT Police cars. Interesting!
The engine is free - I have not attempted to start it - and the body is not that bad at all to be fair. However bear in mind that the old girl has not turned a wheel for 45 years and thus is being sold, quite understandably, as a project. Perhaps she could do with a couple of front wings, but she has decent looking floors and the underside does not appear to be too bad. If she needs any welding work then so be it. But this car is not hanging. Far from it. Her original interior will improve greatly as the black leather seats with white piping are very dry. But, all the same, well worth saving. The price is right and if you are reading this then you will know that to be the case. Viewing is welcome and with this being the rare MGC and not the standard MGB, I would be surprised if the first to view did not buy. It is being sold as a project and the price is £7500.
After nearly half a century in hibernation, she has been released and now needs a new and loving home. Go on. You know it makes sense!
This description is based on my opinion of the vehicle, the paperwork that comes with the car and anything I have been told about it. The vehicle is 54-years-old and this cannot be taken as a definitive statement for obvious reasons. As with most classic cars, there may be faults and quirks whilst, almost inevitably, some degree of tinkering and care will always be called for. Such are the joys of owning an antique vehicle and they must be taken within their own context and not compared to modern day cars. They are sold as old, mainly out-dated machines and come without any comeback whatsoever. They are my terms and conditions.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. This car, for example, is 54-years-old. It's not two, five or even ten-years-old as your own everyday car may be. It has been in service for more than half a century and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. However, faults on these old girls are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply. Please bear all this in mind, and enjoy your classic car. I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote.
I have now been established as a one-man band classic car dealer for 25 years and pride myself on my buying prowess and - due to small margins - my prices which I firmly believe are up there among the very best in the UK classic car marketplace.
Thanks, Martin. the details below.
