Well finds like this don't come too often , but this one owner from new XR3i was brought out of its garage where its been sleeping for 20 years last week , last on the road in 2003 , I couldn't resist washing and hoovering it to get the dust off , then I couldn't resist starting it , more on that in a minute, bought from my local Ford dealership in late 1989 it still bears their plate and dealer stickers , watch the accompanying video and you will see more of the condition etc but it really is a restorers dream , solid where it you want it to be but the arches and boot lid need work , but not tonnes , there are a few Grandad style repairs on the arches but not totally horrible .
With the car which is one of its best bits are its original dealer pack with all the letters etc that came when new also a Ford cassette tape of driving classics (never seen one of those) there are also original , next and then the next style of logbooks too , as well as a folder full of bills and receipts and all old MOTs , dash is good and uncracked all windows etched with the reg , not too sure how rare but its got a heated front screen too and Ive not seen one in an XR3i that I recall , there cant be many others like it I'm sure oh and an uncut parcel shelf
So I hooked up my booster and turned the key it didn't go first turn but third time it spluttered into life and that's on 20 year old fuel you couldn't make it up, see the video , and now it cracks up first time on demand with a booster , battery is goosed, come and have a look and see what you think. I'm absolutely dying to hit it with a power polisher and get the paint repairs done but I'm resisting the urge as someone may well want to go back to the start
