Purchased by the present owner in September 1994 as a "barn find" the car has since been subject to a full body-off restoration (completed in 2017).
The car is a rare 2-litre, 6 cylinder model Dolomite Saloon with distinctive features including side-mounted spare wheel, bonnet louvres and the original art deco bonnet mascot. The car is a 1937 model originally registered in Bournemouth in December 1936.
The car interior is fitted with new carpets and door trims with the original red leather seats still in excellent condition. The car has a sliding sunroof.
The mechanical side has been slightly updated with new pistons and bearings. The cylinder head has been fitted with new valve seats and guides suitable for unleaded fuel. The radiator has been re-cored, new water pump fitted and a "dynator" alternator (replacing the original dynamo which also comes with the car). Twin 12 volt batteries (connected in parallel) are fitted replacing the original 6-volt series arrangement. The car has a stainless steel exhaust. Modern air filters are fitted but the original filters are with the car.
The car starts easily and runs smoothly with excellent oil pressure.
Altogether a well-sorted car in excellent restored condition!
The restoration of the body was completed by the expert on pre-1940 Triumphs.
