1930 AUSTIN 7 ?ULSTER? Replica
SV 7447
Offered for sale, a really nice Austin 7 Ulster, a fine representation of the original EA sports model, this carefully built, original SWB car, most probably started life with a Chummy or standard RK saloon body, however, as with so many Austin sevens, it is likely that the original body was at some point beyond repair and so when a previous owner discovered the car in 1990, whilst living in South Africa, he made the decision to copy the ?Dougie Van Riet? car, an original Austin 7 ?Ulster? that resided in the country and to which he had ready access to copy.
Imported back to the UK in 1998, this super little car, was then much used and enjoyed, particularly on regularity rallies with the Pre-war Austin 7 club.
Various works, have more recently been undertaken, since its original rebuild in the 1990s. Continuously maintained, the history files bulge with information, of note are a recent engine re-build, by renowned Austin 7 Specialist Ian Bancroft, the car is now equipped with a Phoenix crank and rods, all built on a later crankcase with a high compression head and S. U carburettor, whilst some attention, was also given to a rebuild of the brakes and steering components. The 4 -peed gearbox was rebuilt with close ratio gears, and mechanically the car remains in lovely condition throughout, the engine bay in near concours condition.
More recently the car was re-sprayed in a dark burgundy hue, with contrasting black wings, the interior finished in smart black leatherette, other detail improvements, include correct Smiths MA instruments with matching silver faces and the headlamps replaced, with correct Lucas R47 items, as were the tail-lights, all adding up to car with great detail, so often missed on many amateur built cars.
SV 7447 now sits on freshly blasted and painted 19 inch wheels, shod with recent Blockley tyres, tubes and rim tape.
A great useable Ulster replica, in really lovely condition, ideal for VSCC or 750MC events and absolutely sure to bring a smile to the new owner wherever he may wish to drive it.
