Description
1949 – Delahaye “175 S Roadster”
French registration title
Chassis n° 825008 (see text)
- This Delahaye is one of the very few survivors of the confidential 4. 5-litre presented at the 1948 Paris Motor Show, which was available in 3 wheelbases: short (175), medium (178) and long (180); born 180, it was ordered new by an industrialist from Valenciennes, with the 160 hp/ 3 carburettor engine option
- The original bodywork, a heavy limousine designed by Letourneur & Marchand, disappeared in the 1980s, and it was at that time that the rolling chassis was shortened to a wheelbase of 2. 80 m (shorter than an original 175)
- The rolling chassis was acquired by an enlightened enthusiast in the mid-2000s, who undertook a meticulous restoration (chassis, running gear and engine) before designing an incredible Roadster body himself; the wooden frame was made by the Marcadier brothers, while the sheet metal work was entrusted to the Cornubert bodyshop, the whole reconstruction being perfectly documented
- The breathtaking result was enhanced by a whole host of details, created by the owner himself ; completed in the mid-2010s, the car has since covered around 3, 000 km, winning the admiration of novices and connoisseurs alike
- An authentic Delahaye 4. 5-litre Roadster, bodied by Figoni or Saoutchik, can now be traded for several million euros; this personal creation of a 175 S Roadster will enable lovers of the marque and legendary coachbuilders to afford the myth for barely 10% of the value of a real one; please note that the car's registration title still state CI (Conduite Intérieure) and 6 seats
Est. 150 000 – 200 000 €
