First registered June 1966 (D Suffix) this Right-Hand-Drive VW Karmann Ghia 1300 Cabriolet has been in the hands of its local keeper since June 2008. Finished in Silver Blue Metallic with Blue Interior piped in White this superb example has clearly been a cherished possession. Sporting a body colour matched set of knock-off style alloys which in our opinion suit the car very well indeed.
Three companies collaborated in the history of the Karmann Ghia. Volkswagen was producing its famous Beetle and as postwar standards of living increased VW were receptive to adding a Halo model to their range. Concurrently, Carrozzeria Ghia were keen to expand the international reputation of their 50-year-old Turin based business and Wilhelm Karmann having taken over the helm at his family coachbuilding firm Karmann was eager to augment his coach-building contracts. After VW eventually approved the design in November 1953, the Karmann Ghia went into production, ultimately to reach a production over 445, 000, running 19 years virtually unchanged.
The history file is replete with invoices for MoT certificates maintenance and spare parts and includes a valuation by the Karmann Ghia Owners Club from 2016 which reflects the current asking price. Although MoT exempt we will provide a fresh MoT at sale for peace of mind and three month warranty.
In this form the Karmann Ghia Cabriolet is a rare car on UK roads and we believe this to be one of the best currently available.
