Bought new in March 1953 this beautiful early model Series II Moggy is still very much in factory standard condition, distinguished by its split windscreen & “cheese grater” front grill these early model Series II cars are becoming a fairly rare model, there will always be plenty of Morris 1000’s at any classic car gathering, but it’s a solid bet turning up in this beauty you’d be the only Series II at most events.
Just 4 owners from new, finished in striking gloss black with red interior it presents really well and grabs your attention, the deep shine to the paint is very appealing, please don't miss our comprehensive YouTube demonstration video which shows the car in its entirety.
It starts instantly, the 948cc four cylinder petrol engine runs really well, it drives effortlessly pulling strongly through all the gears, great clutch with no slip or judder, it does not jump out of first gear and it stops in a straight line with no pulling or veering, the car drives really well (again please see the video we spend over four minutes touring the underside).
Handbrake is working, brakes are very good, head lights, side lights, indicators, wipers, horn, wind down windows, quarter lights, door catches and lock, boot lock all work as intended. There is no breathing from the oil filer cap and no spitting from the dipstick when running. It has its original trafficators which work and a set of amber indicators snuck under the bumpers to help with modern driving, these appear to be the only nonstandard fitment on the car externally, under the bonnet is a very handy battery isolation switch and elec windscreen washer additions.
Inside is finished in a complimenting burgundy / red interior, the carpets are very good and the headlining, door cards and rear panels are all very presentable, it has twin glove box lids and a heater fitted. Currently showing 43837 miles, we cannot confirm these as correct. The tyres are all very good with ample tread and there is a good spare and a selection of tools contained in a tool roll in the carpeted boot.
The car is HPI clear, we have the full current logbook, an owners manual in the glovebox, a few old MOT’s, some tax discs, a reproduction 1953 tax disc in the windscreen, some service invoices and a exploded parts diagram catalogue. It's MOT exempt and the road tax is free, classic insurance should be a round £100 for most drivers over 25, parts are readily available and there are a multitude of clubs, rallies, regional groups and national for these charming little cars, in the folder is a club booklet from a meeting in 2022 with the car featured on the front cover and listed as an entry inside.
The paintwork is very good, with deep shine and offering a perfect reflection when caught in the sunlight, the odd imperfection will be found on close inspection. Bright work is all good, not new and slightly aged but all perfectly fine.
There are loads of Moggy's to pick from, you will NOT find another with such a detailed description and in-depth demonstration video, nothing hidden and nothing to hide, any inspection welcomed, its patiently awaiting its new owner to cherish it and enjoy some motoring adventures.
Draw out of your boring ISA, get out the picnic hamper and go and enjoy your hard earned savings, you still have a car to sell if you want to cash in later and you will be making memories instead of a pittance of interest.
