Presented in March 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show, it was a real thunderbolt, representing new technology, design and performance never before achieved by a production car.
Four independent spoked wheels and disc brakes, a wooden steering wheel and an all-aluminium dashboard, bucket seats and streamlined headlights, 3 chromed SU in-line carburettors and the 265bhp of the XK engine... That's what this new Jaguar line called the E-TYPE represents. This car became the emblem of sportiness and elegance, and was owned by the biggest stars in the world of motoring and the 7th art. A competition model saw the light of day on the Sarthe circuit in 1963: the Type E Lightweight. It was hard to create a racing car from a sports model that could already reach 240 km/ h. History of this Jaguar Type E flatfloor: Sold new on 5 January 1962 by importer David Delecroix in Monaco to Madame Simon at the Hôtel Le Continental. It changed hands in 1983 and went to Switzerland where it was owned by Pierre de Sibenthal, a racing driver. In 2006, the last owner acquired the car, restored it and kept it to this day. This Jaguar E-Type is one of only 69 convertibles sold in France! Body: Completely restored in "Opalescente Dark Blue", the bodywork is very sound, corrosion-free and in excellent condition. The door and bonnet openings are excellent. The Eiffel structure is good, as are the rocker panels. Upholstery: The beige leather upholstery has a beautiful patina. The carpets and soft top are new.
