Description

Land Rover Series 1 80" Fire Engine

Genuine Example. Originally used at Harlech Fire Station. The vehicle was then used as a spare vehicle by Gwynedd Council at their workshops. Since being sold off by the council it has been owned by two well known Series 1 collectors. One managed to get the original number plate back for the vehicle. Which is nice to see. The vehicle comes with some letters from the council, original sales brochure, one old picture of it in service and other information on the models and production figures.

This is the 16th out of 23 RHD home market models. Supplied new via D. E. Davies, Barmouth the local Land Rover agent. It was registered on 8th April 1953 and was built 5th March 1953. There were 42 RHD Export vehicles made and 43 LHD Export Models. There is believed to be less than 10 RHD home models left in existence this being one of them. So quite a rare vehicle. Not to be confused with any fire engines or tenders that were converted by companies outside of Land Rover. This vehicle was built at the Land Rover factory. The vehicle also featured in James Taylor's book, Factory-Original Land Rover Series 1, 80" Models.

The vehicle has only done 12, 700 Miles from new, the condition of the pedals, seats and galvanising certainly support this low mileage.

The vehicle is fitted with period correct Dunlop T29 Trakgrip Tyres. 6. 50x16. They are no longer available, they all hold air but do have cracking to the side walls. So it is advised that they should not be used on the road. We can fit a modern tyre should the buyer wish to use the vehicle on the road. However if it is going to a collection or for a static display then it is best left with these tyres on.

The vehicle is mechanically in good order, it has an engine governor fitted. Any viewings are welcome the vehicle really does look great and will complete any Classic Land Rover collection.
