Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this low mileage BMW Z1 Roadster. Our car was originally sold new by BMW GB in July 2004, and it remains highly original throughout. The open-air driving experience with the clever doors retracted into the sills is quite unmatched.
The Z stood for Zukunft, which derived from the German word for future. Chief Designer Harm Lagaay opted for retractable headlights, which means that the Z1 still looks modern today. The most talked-about feature were the vertical sliding doors which dropped down into the oversized sills. The kerb weight is just 1250 kg mainly thanks to injection-moulded panels which were finished in a special Varioflex paint. The zinc-dipped chassis resulted in a 25% stiffer assembly and the rear suspension featured a Z axle multi-link setup with transverse control arms and a longitudinal control arm.
The engine is an M20 B25 2, 494 cc straight six-cylinder unit with a light alloy head featuring a single belt-driven overhead camshaft and two valves per cylinder and produced 170 bhp. Top speed is 140 miles per hour and acceleration from 0-62 mph takes just 7. 9 seconds.
The car on offer today is one of the best examples that we have come across. The Z1 Roadster boasts a complete BMW and BMW specialist dealer service history with 21 service visits with the 1200-mile running-in service completed by BMW GB Ltd at 923 miles. The Z1 was last serviced in February 2025 which also included a timing belt change. The original service and MOT paperwork is also present in the history file.
The original handbook pack is complete and naturally all the original BMW keys are present. Our BMW Z1 is all ready to be enjoyed. This rare BMW Z1 is an excellent example of a BMW modern classic and will be sold with a comprehensive 12-month written warranty.
