History The Testarossa was first presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1984. Its name derives from the 1957 Ferrari 250 GT, powered by a 60-degree V12 engine that won numerous endurance races with legendary drivers such as Hill, Collins and Gendebien. This high-output engine was fitted with red cylinder head covers (instead of the usual black), which is how it came to be nicknamed 'Testarossa', meaning 'ginger'. In 1984, the Testarossa name was given to a car that won numerous awards, including "Design of the Year" and the "Car Design Award". This recognition went not only to the car's aesthetics, but also to its technical prowess. It's hard to surpass excellence, especially when compared to an illustrious predecessor like the original Testarossa, a car that already achieved a very high level of performance, top speed, acceleration and roadholding. How could it go further? In 1991, the answer came with the Ferrari 512 TR. The new TR represented a significant step forward in performance for Ferrari. With 41 more horsepower than its predecessor, the new 428 bhp engine gained a second on the already impressive acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ h in 5. 7 seconds. The chassis, 5-speed manual gearbox and brakes have been completely redesigned. A slight facelift was given to the new bodywork, giving the TR a more aggressive look, while retaining the timeless styling of the Testarossa. A total of 2, 261 examples were built.
