Beschreibung

Here we present a beautiful Series 2 Stag with the sought-after manual/ overdrive gearbox in the sparsely seen French Blue. KKH 295N is accompanied by almost 20 years of history reveals that it has been little used and well maintained. Showing just 51, 750 miles, with only 7000 miles having been covered since 2006. It has lots of history showing that the usual timing chain and cylinder head work has all been done. The paint has a deep lustre, the hood and the chrome are both excellent. It is a very pretty and well-sorted example.

Performance of the stag epitomises a GT-orientated driving experience, the delightful torque of the smooth V8 with a dual sports exhaust delivering the Stag's signature exhaust burble, often praised as one of the best-sounding engines of its era. The 4-speed manual transmission and overdrive feel superbly correct through the gears with the overdrive coming in gracefully on 3rd and 4th. The independent suspension found on all 4 corners in harmony with servo assisted brakes and PAS offer a suitably comfortable grand touring driving experience. Inside the stag features a distinctive perforated leather interior with matching door panels and contrasting seat piping - a major upgrade on the original vinyl trim. The upholstery, along with the sporty wood-rim Mota Lita steering wheel makes the cockpit beautifully inviting for the driver.

The Triumph Stag story begins in the mid-1960s, rooted in the innovative spirit of the Triumph Motor Company. By 1960s, the brand had become synonymous with stylish and innovative family saloon and sports cars. In 1964, the Italian designer, Giovanni Michelotti used a Triumph 2000 saloon to create a show car for the Turin Motor Show. This vehicle, which had served as a support car for Triumph's Le Mans efforts, was transformed into a sleek, two-door convertible prototype with a shortened wheelbase. Triumph were so impressed that they acquired the prototype in 1965, preventing it from being displayed publicly. This marked the birth of Project Stag-the only Triumph model to retain its internal development code name for production. Rather than utilising Triumphs tried and tested 2. 0L in-line 6 engine, engineering director, Harry Webster pushed for a more ambitious powerplant: a new overhead-cam (OHC) 2. 5-liter fuel-injected V8. Over time, the V8 was enlarged to 3. 0 litres for better torque, and mechanical fuel injection was abandoned in favor of dual Zenith-Stromberg carburettors to meet U. S. emissions standards-a key target market.

Recently, KKH 295N has benefitted from a full set of tyres, new front brake pads, having both of the heads skimmed, a new manifold gasket, a new water pump, new distributor cap, new rotor arm, a new starter motor, a new battery, new cam chains, a gearbox oil service, and having been wax oiled underneath.

This French Blue Stag is a highly desirable and thoroughly sorted example.
