Description
1933 Rolls-Royce 20/ 25 Landaulet by Barker & Co. Chassis GDX16, Registration AGN 350, extensively restored and owned for over 30 years.
This very attractive vintage Rolls-Royce was originally ordered by a Mrs Miller of Bayswater Hill, London who commissioned Barker & Co, one of the most respected and oldest established London coachbuilders to build her the ultimate formal body for her new Rolls - a Landaulet . The design of this type of body was firmly entrenched in horse drawn carriage designs of the previous century and was well suited to fashionable ladies ( and to members of the Royal Family) who would instruct their Chauffeurs at the turn of a key to open the leather covered rear section of the roof above the passengers so they could be seen and enjoy open air motoring . This particular example has many charming luxury fittings including companions with a car clock ( working), seating for seven people including two jump seats, silver plated flower vase and silk rope pulls and a sliding glass division with a speaking aperture. It has brown leather to the front compartment and Bedford cord to the rear. The folding rear hood mechanism is a delight to use, being sprung internally as befitting one the best coachbuilders in the land . It is also fitted from new with a roof rack complete with period leather luggage and also a folding luggage rack to the rear. This splendid car was bought by our vendor, Mr Harry Sunderland in 1995 as a sound original car and has subsequently been restored by him to a very high standard and still presents very well indeed. It is supplied with a period car trunk, a fitted car cover, a mostly modern tool kit and original jack, wheelbrace and hammer, a history file with photographs, old mots, an original owners handbook and related paperwork. A very attractive vintage Rolls which has been well maintained by its knowledgeable owner.
