Description

Gorgeous 1976 Alfa Romeo Tipo105 1600GT Junior (2. 0) originates from South Africa and was imported to the United Kingdom and registered in June 2019. Interestingly, production continued into 1977 after it ceased in 1976 in Italy with a further 25 GTV’s built in SA’s Rossyln plant.

Finished in typical deep red and sitting on a set of very sporting multi-hole alloy wheels, the car exudes purpose and presence, particularly given this example has been debumpered further adding to the visual drama.

Under the bonnet, we find the original 1600cc engine has been swapped out for the 1, 962cc four-cylinder twin-cam engine more often found in the 2000GTV (Veloce – meaning Fast in Italian) running on Carbs, mated to manual transmission.

The car has been with our local enthusiast owner for the last 3 years seeing limited dry, summer use only trekking into mid-Wales for fishing trips mostly and currently shows just over 25, 000Km (which cannot be verified).

The history file includes the V5C recording just one former UK keeper. a selection of bills for parts purchased and works undertaken and an old MOT.

Recent works of note include supply of an Alfaholics ‘Superleggera 4-pot Brake Kit’ totaling £1, 473, fitment of the brake kit, drop link poly bushes, new spark plugs and replacement boot lid ensued in October 2022 costing a further £1960, fitment of the seats shown in July 2021, new GT Junior premium black carpet set in Feb 2021, a significant £4650 spend in July 2020 was undertaken by Midland Classic Restorations including a strip and rebuild of the rear diff, overhauled gearbox fitted (supplied by Classic Alfa), Sachs clutch kit, poly bushed rear trailing arms, fitment of seat belts, timing checked and adjusted along with various other minor works.
Further bills for work and parts are also documented on file dating back to 2019 including ignition parts, brake calipers, shockers, door fixings, exhaust system etc.

In addition, we note inclusion of the UK import papers and related DVLA correspondence and letter from The Alfa Romeo Owners Club confirming the car’s identity and that it was originally a 1600GT Junior RHD Type 115. 05, manufactured on the 9th of February 1976.

The car starts and runs well, feeling lithe, tight and responsive with an intoxicating exhaust note. There are some minor paint blemishes as shown along with some minor localized corrosion to the lower rear offside rear wheel arch lip which may require attention in the future.

A great example, that’s RHD and features the more potent 2. 0liter engine that’s ready to be enjoyed ‘as is’ or treat it to some minor cosmetic work to really make it sparkle.
