Description
The MK IV Spitfire was launched in 1970 with new Michelotti designed styling to the front and rear and revised rear suspension to counter the criticism of the set up on earlier models. It was produced until 1974.
This car is a 1972 Spitfire in Mimosa yellow with a black interior. It’s an older restoration that presents in sublime condition with a beautiful paint finish, superb panel fit and a pleasingly immaculate and detailed under-bonnet.
This car was in a museum for many years after restoration and consequently has done few miles in recent years. We have just treated it to a comprehensive refurbishment including a top-end overhaul – new head gasket , head skim and crack test - replacement of various fuel and water pipes, new battery, plugs, leads, oil and filter, fuel sender, fan belt, thermostat, anti-freeze and overhaul of the brake and clutch hydraulics. We have also carried out a few test miles and it is running and driving very well.
At some stage various upgrades have been fitted including braided brake hoses and upgraded front road springs. The car sits on refurbished wheels with matching Avon tyres
