Description
The MG TD is not only a classic car, particularly elegant and magnificent, but also a true pleasure to drive. Like almost all MGs, the TD is a classic car that is very easy to handle. Succeeding the MG TC, the TD was marketed from 1950 to 1953. This magnificent 1952 example was initially delivered to the United States before arriving in the Netherlands in the 1990s. In the Netherlands, it has had only two owners, and the first had it fully restored with exceptional care and meticulousness. During this restoration, the original engine block and gearbox were also completely overhauled. Consequently, this MG TD is still fully "matching numbers". He kept it for about 26 years, maintaining it with passion and care. This is evident not only from the many maintenance invoices but above all from the car's impeccable condition.
This magnificent MG TD is still in exceptional condition. The beautiful MG red colour is not only perfect for this elegant roadster but also retains a deep shine and is in excellent condition. The various chrome elements and trims are also bright and in excellent condition. The same goes for the rubber parts and finishes. The chrome wire wheels are superb and pair perfectly with this MG TD. The stylish chrome boot rack, the front grille bar and the auxiliary headlights at the front are likewise. These details make the car even more special. The black soft top and the side panels have seen very little use and are in excellent condition (almost new). A tonneau cover is also supplied with the car, also in excellent condition.
The black leather interior pairs perfectly with the red body colour and is in excellent condition. The seats are exceptionally comfortable and in perfect condition. The same goes for the black upholstery. The dashboard is not only stunning but also in very good condition, and all instruments work correctly. The large clear steering wheel integrates perfectly with this interior. The chrome and interior trim are still bright and in excellent condition. For added comfort, this car is also equipped with two small wind deflectors on the windscreen.
Under the bonnet is the famous XPAG 1250 cc engine, completely overhauled during the restoration in the 1990s. The mechanical maintenance is evidently impeccable. The engine runs very smoothly and with remarkable quietness, delivering sufficient power for comfortable, relaxed cruising. The gearbox and steering are exceptionally smooth, and the braking is efficient and precise. This MG TD roadster is stylish and magnificent, with authentic classic lines that make it particularly appealing.
