Description
1956 Alvis TC21 / 108G Graber fixed head coupe coachbuilt by Willowbrook, reg. no. 543 ALG, rare barn find ripe for restoration.
This barn find Alvis is a very rare chassis, with only 38 built, and fitted with an even rarer fixed head coupe body built by Willowbrook coachbuilders of Loughburgh to a design by Herman Graber of Switzerland. This body is number six of only 13 built by this coachbuilder. The body number is 56006, which translates as built in 1956 body number 6. Chassis number is 25912, Engine number TC21/ 108G 25912.
These were very expensive cars at £3500 and around twice the price of the previous Alvis Grey lady model it replaced. They were only available during 1956 & 1957.
This car has all the available factory extras fitted, wire wheels, twin foglights and HMV radio. The car is fitted with its original Alvis three-litre straight-six OHV twin-carb engine, Alvis manual gearbox and green leather interior.
The car was last used in 1973 and has been stored in a farm building for 53 years. We are informed that the engine turns on the starting handle. The car will require a complete rebuild, but appears to be complete.
Unfortunately, the paperwork has been lost, but the car has been owned by a number of members of The Alvis Owners Club and with their help, a case can be prepared to obtain a new registration document and hopefully retain the original registration. (Subject to 12% buyers' premium inclusive of VAT).
