DESCRIPTION
The 1992 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 is one of the most iconic high-performance sports saloons of the early 1990s. Developed by Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) division in partnership with Cosworth, it combined everyday practicality with rally-inspired performance. The four-wheel-drive Sapphire Cosworth entered production in January 1990 as the evolution of the original rear-wheel-drive Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth offering improved traction, stability and all-weather capability. Production continued until December 1992
EXTERNAL
Finished in its original factory Ford Moon Dust Silver metallic paintwork the bodywork displays a deep consistent shine with an excellent finish throughout reflecting the level of care the car has received over the years from its very low ownership. The exterior presents exceptionally well with straight original panels, crisp shut lines and precise factory panel gaps that remain true to Ford's original build quality.
The colour-coded front and rear bumpers complement the elegant styling of the Sapphire Cosworth while the original front headlamps and fog lights remain in place preserving the car's authentic appearance. Displacing 1, 993cc and equipped with a Garrett AiResearch T3 turbocharger air-to-air intercooler and Weber-Marelli engine management system
Developing approximately 220 PS (217 bhp) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque. Power is delivered to all four wheels through Ford's advanced permanent four-wheel-drive system providing outstanding traction and confidence in all driving conditions.
Mated to the robust Borg-Warner MT75 five-speed manual gearbox the transmission offers precise, positive gear changes with a reassuring mechanical feel that perfectly complements the car's performance-focused character. First registered on the 1st August 1992 by leading 'Route One Ford' Rs Dealer to a Mr Smedley from Salford who retained the vehicle until 2021 when a Mr Greathead took ownership and has retained ever since resulting in a thirty four year old vehicle having only ever had 2 owners
