Description
Volkswagen Westfalia T3 Type 25 Club Joker Campervan 1983 in original livery. One of the first water cooled campervans off the VW line. Like all genuine Westfalia factory campervans this is Lefthand Drive. It has all the matching Numbers and identification plates from the factory. MOT until April 2018. Turbo (AAZ) 1. 9 diesel with 5 speed manual gearbox. We are only the 3rd owners and have owned the camper for 3 years. It was imported from Germany in 2010 and in 2012 the MOT mileage was recorded at less than 95 000 miles and since then it has only covered an approximate additional 7500 miles. It appears that a replacement used speedometer was fitted in 2012/ 13 showing higher ‘mileage’ in Km. UK issued V5C (showing only 2 former keepers from May 1983 and ‘Motor Caravan’ description) and period ‘Y’ suffix registration number. The campervan is largely original and has all the usual high end refinements from Westfalia that made it the most expensive in their 1983 range including:
Map light and map table for passenger, double glazing, 4 berth with all original mattress cushions, 2 burner stove with splash back, stainless steel sink/ drainer with water tap supplied from built-in storage tank. The sink drains to a built-in waste water tank. The propane gas for the stove is from a built-in 21Kg storage tank. The seating plan is to the much favoured and rare ‘round’ or curved format that makes the campervan feel much larger. All seat cushions are original matching the mattress cushions in the Adagio pattern. All the original interior lights are still in working order. Leisure battery, 240 volt hook-up with built in charging system. Loads of storage cupboards including the optional extra unit behind the passenger seat that doubles as further seating. ¾ rock ’n’ roll bed below and slide out twin bed in roof. Swing out Dining table. The fridge is not present but the space is occupied by a brand new unused Porta loo. The front seats are mounted on swivel bases. The original Eberspacher night heater is still there but we have not used it and would recommend getting it checked out as like the campervan it is now 34 year old!
This campervan is currently insured as a Classic Vehicle at a very reasonable comprehensive annual premium (£100 for us) and it appears to return around 35 miles per gallon. At the MOT test we were told that the underneath of the vehicle is a real ‘minter’ and is very solid. Sadly some of the original paint has worn thin and faded in places and has been touched up but generally the body panels appear to be sound. Please view the attached pictures as a picture paints 1000 words. If you want to speed along at 80mph all day long then this isn’t the bus for you (suggest you go for a T5 instead) but if you are happy to cruise at a more leisurely 65mph then this T3 classic is great fun.
Comes complete with Drive-away Awning and a breathable all-weather cover.
