The Porsche 944 was built from 1982 to 1991 on the same platform as the 924. The 944 was a successful model and available as both a coupé and cabriolet in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. In mid-1985, the Porsche 944 underwent significant changes. These included a new dashboard together with new door panels, embedded radio antenna as well as some mechanical changes. Also included was a larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats, Porsche Hi-Fi sound system and revisions in the mounting of the transaxle.
In 1989, Porsche released the 944 S2 Cabriolet, a first for the 944 line that featured the cabriolet body built by ASC-American Sunroof Company at Weinsberg Germany. Powered by a 211 PS (155 kW; 208 hp) normally aspirated, dual-overhead-cam 16-valve 3. 0 litre engine, it was the largest production 4-cylinder engine of its time delivering 0-60mph in 6. 0 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/ h (150 mph) via manual transmission.
This outstanding S2 boasts an incredible history file with many maintenance invoices and recent works including a new clutch, water pump, belt and tensioner all completed within the last 2, 000 miles. First registered in March 1990, the electric pop up headlamps, central locking and electric hood are all in good working order. This example comes complete with its original tool kit and hood cover with accompanying bag.
