This fine example of the much-loved Frogeye Sprite is finished in old-English white with red interior seats and trim. It comes complete with full weather equipment comprising of a red tonneau cover and a black hood, both in excellent condition.
This is one of the nicest Healeys we have had and it has covered just 4000 miles since 2004. The present recorded mileage is 28, 213. The car underwent a restoration in 1992 by the Austin Healey specialist David Groves, and the present condition is a tribute to the quality of his work.
The engine has been upgraded from the original 948, to an MG 1098 which gives the little car quite brisk performance. It is well able to maintain normal road speeds without fuss. There are no knocks or rattles, and the car drives, handles and holds the road exactly as a Healey Sprite should. Starting form cold or hot is instantaneous and it maintains a good oil pressure, and low, steady temperature. One of our directors drove it 50 miles to the garage and it performed spectacularly well.
The car has MOT until May 2018, and is tax exempt.
The Sprite, designed by Donald Healey of Healey 3000 fame, was an instant success due to its “friendly face” looks, and its agility and reliability. It took the American market for small sports cars by storm, and is very popular today. Prices of these klittle gems have been rising rapidly over the last two years, and this is set to continue.
